H3ABioNet provides guidelines on data management and governance

    Data Management Plans

    1. Introduction

A data management plan (DMP) is a dynamic document which outlines how data will be managed in terms of storage, access, use and dissemination. Data management plans (DMPs) have become a critical component of high-throughput biomedical research, and a required sub-component of grant proposals, some of which are specific to funding agencies. DMPs not only ensure compliance with funding agency requirements but also contribute to the integrity, accessibility, and reusability of research data.

Researchers and grant writers seeking to include robust data management plans in their proposals will find this document helpful. H3ABioNet supports the development of Data Management Plans in many different areas, one of which is for clinical data collection.

    1. Components of a Data Management Plan:

The following are the main key elements that should be included in a DMP.

    1. Tools and Resources: List of tools, templates, and resources available for creating and implementing DMPs.

    1. Training Resources: Links to training materials and courses for researchers on data management best practices.

    1. Importance of adherence to best practices and guidelines:

Adherence to best practices, such as the FAIR Guiding Principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable), ensures that research data are managed ethically, securely, and transparently [https://h3abionet.org/data-standards/fair-data].
